Garmin's popular multisport smartwatch series Fenix may soon receive a major update. Leaks have started to emerge about the Garmin Fenix 8, expected to be launched in September 2024, promising exciting new features.
The most notable change might be the transition to AMOLED screen technology. According to information revealed on the websites of Garmin's authorized dealers, Fenix 8 may come with an AMOLED screen offering more vibrant colors and deeper blacks. This is an important development, especially for users seeking better visibility under sunlight. However, it's known that AMOLED screens can negatively affect battery life. It remains to be seen what solution Garmin will find for this issue.
Another significant change seems to be in the sizes. According to leaks, the smallest model of Fenix 8 will now be 43 mm instead of 42 mm. This could mean a larger screen and longer battery life. Additionally, the smaller model might be named simply "Fenix 8" instead of "Fenix 8s".
The Fenix E model is expected to continue with the MIP screen and be a closer successor to the Fenix 7 series.
Of course, all this information has not been officially confirmed yet. Garmin has not made any statements about Fenix 8. However, considering that the leaks come from reliable sources and similar leaks have been accurate in the past, the likelihood of Fenix 8 coming with significant innovations like an AMOLED screen, larger size, and possible name change is quite high.
We will have to wait until September 2024 to learn more about Garmin Fenix 8.
